Hair System for Receding Corners, Crown or Baldness?
The short answer: a hair system works at every stage, including complete baldness, and that is its biggest advantage over a transplant. But it is not the most sensible answer at every stage. With the first receding corners we often advise against it and suggest discussing medical options with a doctor first. From a thinning crown, a bald patch or baldness onwards it often becomes the best solution available.
Why the stage makes the difference
With a hair transplant your donor hair decides what is possible. Anyone who has too little of it will not get a full result. A hair system does not know that limit: the density is chosen, not redistributed.
That is exactly why the recommendation reverses as hair loss progresses. At the beginning there are alternatives. Later there are effectively only two: shave, or a system.
Early receding corners
Our honest assessment: usually still too early.
If the forehead has only just become a little higher and the rest is full, a hair system means changing every 7 days to 4 weeks from now on, for a problem many people still solve with a suitable cut. Talk to a doctor about medical options first, and see what a good barber can do with your hairline.
When it still makes sense: if the receding corners genuinely weigh on you, if you have already examined everything else, or if your job demands a particular appearance.
Thinning crown and bald patch
Here a hair system becomes the obvious solution.
The bald patch, the thinning circle at the back of the head, is the spot you can hardly see yourself and others see constantly. It is also the area where transplants use up the most donor hair and least often achieve satisfying density.
A hair system covers the zone completely, and the top hair is blended with your own. You see the result after one appointment. And the classic moment of dread, someone standing above you on a staircase, is dealt with.
Partial and complete baldness
Here a hair system plays to its full strength.
When only the ring of hair is left, a transplant is usually no longer an option. The donor hair simply is not enough for convincing density, and reputable surgeons say so. A hair system does not have that limit: you decide on density, hairline and shape.
The stages at a glance
| Stage | Hair system sensible? | Check alternatives? |
|---|---|---|
| Early receding corners | rather not yet | definitely: doctor, cut |
| Clear receding corners | possible | consider a transplant |
| Thinning crown / bald patch | very well suited | depends on donor hair |
| Partial baldness | very well suited | hardly any left |
| Complete baldness | best available solution | - |
| After a failed transplant | a frequent case with us | - |
After a hair transplant
A noticeable share of our customers already has a transplant behind them, with too little density, visible scars in the donor zone or hair loss continuing around the transplanted areas. A hair system covers both.
The full comparison of the two routes is under hair system or hair transplant.
When we advise against it
- with active skin problems in the attachment area, get them treated first
- with an allergy to medical adhesives
- if you do not want a routine every 7 days to 4 weeks, then shaving is the more honest answer
- with very early hair loss, as long as medical options have not been examined
Common questions
Does a hair system work with complete baldness too?
Yes, without restriction. Without any hair of your own there is not even any blending to do, so the fitting is rather easier.
Do I have to shave off my remaining hair?
Only in the bonding area. The ring of hair stays and is blended with the system.
Is the transition visible with a lot of my own hair?
Not with clean blending. More on that: can you tell a hair system.
Does my remaining hair keep growing under the system?
Yes, normally. It is cared for and cut at every service.
Which system suits my stage?
That depends less on the hair loss than on your hairstyle, sport and how much care you want. The comparison is under skin, lace or mono.
Which starting point suits which system
The further the hair loss, the clearer the answer. With the first receding corners it is worth examining other routes first. From a thinning crown onwards a hair system is the fastest and most reliable way to get full hair back, and with complete baldness usually the only one.
