The short answer: the two routes solve different problems. Advertising often blurs this, but it is the only point that really counts:

SMP does not change how much hair you have, only how the bald area looks. After the treatment you still wear a shaved head, it simply no longer looks smooth and shiny but like closely cropped, dense hair.

The point neither provider likes to raise

SMP is permanent, and hair loss progresses. What is tattooed today as a natural hairline can sit too low or too far forward in five years, because your remaining hair has changed. Corrections are laborious and removal is only possible by laser.

A hair system asks for a routine in return. Anyone who does not want that will not be happy with it, and then SMP or simply shaving is the more honest answer.

Can the two be combined?

Does SMP last forever?
No. The pigments fade, and a refresh is usually needed after three to six years.

Can I still wear a hair system after SMP?
